Kenta Maeda 2016 Bowman Chrome Superfractor Sells For $7K

News quickly spread on Sunday that the 2016 Bowman Chrome Kenta Maeda Superfractor  Auto redemption had been posted on eBay. It was listed for $14,999.99. Well, news came this morning that the card had sold for a cool $7,000.00. Here’s the proof:

This is arguably the biggest hit in the product besides the Yoan Moncada Superfractor Auto. It will be interesting to see what that one ends up going for. For now, everyone will hold their breath and hope that it ends up surfacing in one of their breaks.

2011 Bowman Draft Trevor Bauer Autographed Superfractor Ends Tonight

December 2, 2011 Leave a comment

One of the best cards you can pull from 2011 Bowman Draft Picks & Prospects is ending tonight on eBay. It’s the Trevor Bauer Autographed Superfractor.

The Arizona Diamondbacks took Bauer with the third pick overall in the 2011 MLB Draft, just behind UCLA teammate Gerrit Cole and UVA product Danny Hultzen. Many believe that Bauer will be the top starter in Arizona for years to come.

The card is currently at $1,805.00 and has been at that amount for days. I assume bidding will pick up tonight, but it’s anyone’s guess what it will end at. Personally, I would not have ended this card on a Friday night, but it may not matter as a card as sought after as this cannot go unnoticed.

Will you be bidding?

EDIT: The card sold for $2,358.00. Something tells me this is going to end up being a bargain a few years from now.

2010-11 Score Rookie & Traded Hockey Set Case Break

Ever wonder what a 20-set case of 2010 Score Rookie & Traded Hockey would hold? I did, so I recently bought one and finished breaking it today. I knew off the bat that I was going to get 20 of each base card, 20 autographs, 100 gold parallel cards and one #659 Taro Tsujimoto Super SP card. The allure is this is obviously the autographs. Tyler Seguin and Taylor Hall both signed for this set, but in very limited quantities. I was hoping that I’d get lucky and pull one of these guys in my case.

You’ll see all the autographs and the Tsujimoto below. The gold cards (not pictured) didn’t yield anything better than two Taylor Hall’s. I was hoping for a Seguin or two, but that didn’t happen.

I was pretty disappointed in the collation of the autographs. I got four of the same player. That’s pretty bad for a case that yields 20 autographs.

Even though I didn’t hit anything big, this is still a product that you can profit on at its current price point, $10 per set. One word of caution, the autographed card is the top card in every set and the Taylor Hall base card is the last card in every set. These are very susceptible to damaged corners.

Today’s trip to the post office

November 14, 2011 Leave a comment

eBay had a free listing day last week. As you can see from the listing below, I completely took advantage of it. I also broke a case of 2011 Topps Tier One over the weekend, so much of that break was listed over the weekend and included in this mail run as well. I’ll have to post the results of that break soon.

I’ve never come close to shipping this many packages in a single day. The grand total was 39 envelopes. I think the number of auctions enclosed was 46 as a few people won multiple items. There are only 10 left to send, just waiting on payments for those.

2011 Topps Value Box Case Break

November 11, 2011 Leave a comment

As you may have read in one of my recent posts, I’ve opened quite a few of the 2011 Topps retail value boxes. These are the ones that come with 5 retail packs of Topps Update, 1 hobby pack of Bowman Chrome, 1 Diamond Giveaway code card and a special Bryce Harper red, silver or gold Bowman Chrome #BCE1 refractor. I’d had pretty good success with these buying them from retail, so I bought a couple cases on eBay.

I opened the first case the other day it didn’t yield much, not even a gold Harper refractor. However, even opening a bad case still yields some nice stuff. You still get 16 Harper refractors and 25-30 code cards.

I was working from home this morning and decided to let my girlfriend open the second case while I worked. I was monitoring progress as she went and some decent stuff was coming out. The first few things I’ll highlight are from the Bowman Chrome hobby packs.

[Pictured Below] Ike Davis, Franklin Gutierrez and Julio Teheran base refractors. Conner Crumbliss prospect refractor /500. Jacob Turner purple prospect refractor /799. #BCE1 Bryce Harper gold refractor. The other Harper’s yielded 5 silver and 10 red.

Now for the hits from the Topps Update packs…

It was one of the last boxes that supplied the second most valuable card I’ve pulled from a pack. Well, my girlfriend pulled it, but you get the point. I was on a conference call concentrating on the conversation and she hands me a redemption card. I wasn’t 100% focused on what was happening and just sort of glanced at it. I remember telling her a week ago when we were opening a couple boxes of Bowman Chrome that a redemption card would be good because it would probably be Brett Lawrie. Sure enough, this redemption was for Brett Lawrie. I didn’t completely read the redemption at first because I was on the call and was honestly pretty distracted by excitement over pulling a Lawrie. The picture below says it all. Unreal!

Bryce Harper 2011 Bowman Platinum Superfractor 1/1 Sold

November 3, 2011 1 comment

We now have a good idea of what the 2011 Bowman Chrome Bryce Harper Autographed Superfractor will sell for once it surfaces. His 2011 Bowman Platinum Autographed Superfractor sold for $4,550 last night.

The Bowman Chrome will definitely go for more, just how much more we’ll have to wait and see. It’s not going to reach Strasburg levels, but it will bring a pretty penny.

My take on Topps Diamond Giveaway

March 11, 2011 5 comments

I loved the Topps Million Card Giveaway in 2010. It was a great promotion and I had the added bonus of redeeming a code that returned a 2000 Topps HD Derek Jeter autographed card. When I saw the initial promos for the 2011 Diamond Giveaway I knew that I would be participating. Who wouldn’t want a card with a diamond in it?

Well, to date I’ve entered 75 codes. I purchased 50 code cards on eBay and I got the other 25 by opening a lot of 2011 Topps retail packs from Wal-Mart and Target. I literally have nothing to show for the codes in terms of redeemed cards. I’ve not received one card good enough to make me want to have the cards shipped to me. That being said, Topps added the “extra chance” Diamond Dig game this year. The game is simple, you dig a hole in the dirt on baseball diamond grid and reveal either an instant win or a virtual diamond ring. The rings can be redeemed for prizes as you accumulate more and more rings.

My goal in the Diamond Dig was not the actual diamond ring that you receive once you hit 60 different rings. My goal was to get the 2011 Diamond Anniversary complete set that you get once you have 45 different rings. I’m happy to say that I have completed that goal. Does anyone know if this set is any different from a standard Topps factory set? I can’t seem to find any information on it.

I don’t know whether or not I should keep going to try and get to 60 different rings. I heard that the elusive ring is Mickey Mantle. I don’t know if you’re guaranteed to find the Mantle if you dig every hole on the grid or not. Please leave a comment if you know the answer to that one.

I think I’ll continue to redeem codes simply because you have a chance to unlock a diamond card. I’m insanely jealous every time I see someone post one on the various forums. I wouldn’t even care if I got the diamond checklist card. I just want one!
